The Pavilion at Star Lake is located about 25 miles west of Pittsburgh in the town of Burgettstown, PA. This venue is one of the favorite outdoor music venues around the Pittsburgh area. It hosts between 20 and 30 concerts during the spring and summer months every year. Some of the greatest musicians have performed at The Pavilion at Star Lake over the years. The pavilion offers a perfect atmosphere for a great evening of music.

The first big name performer to take the stage at The Pavilion was Billy Joel. Tickets sold out so fast that a 2nd show was planned and the pavilion has been going strong ever since. The first show was in 1990 when the venue opened as the Coca-Cola Star Lake Amphitheater. That name remained unchanged until 2000 when the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette acquired the naming rights and it became the Post-Gazette Pavilion. From 2010 to 2016 it was known as First Niagara Pavilion until it became KeyBank Pavilion when KeyCorp acquired First Niagara Financial Group. KeyBank changed the name to The Pavilion at Star Lake in 2020. The venue is owned and operated by Live Nation. They own numerous amphitheaters across the country. There’s not a bad seat in the house. The pavilion has seating for you and 23,000 of your closest friends. Approximately 7,000 seats are reserved seats under the pavilion and 16,000 are lawn seats. If you choose lawn seats you can bring your own lawn chair as long as it doesn’t sit more than 9” off the ground.

Music lovers really appreciate this pavilion. The acoustics are great and the stage is visible from all locations within the venue. If you’re in the area you should plan to attend a spring or summer concert. There have been many great performances at KeyBank so you’re sure to find a show you would love to see. From Jimmy Buffet to Blake Shelton to Bob Dylan, the performances are endless. The venue has also hosted many music festivals over the years. Some of the festivals hosted by The Pavilion at Star Lake include H.O.R.D.E. Festival, Identity Festival, Lilith Fair, Ozzfest and Farm Aid to name a few. Most shows go on rain or shine and no umbrellas are allow through the gate so if you have lawn seats you need to make sure you are prepared for the weather. If rain is in the forecast you should plan to take a rain poncho or a waterproof jacket.

If you’re going to the venue just be aware there is only one road in and one road out so traffic tends to back up. Allow yourself plenty of time to get into the parking area. The parking lots wrap around the pavilion but there is only one way to get in so if you park in the last lot you can end up sitting for a long time waiting to get out when the show is over. One way to avoid the long lines is to purchase Premier Parking. It will cost you $30 or so but it will save you a lot of time getting into and out of the venue. You can purchase Premier parking tickets on-line before the show. Parking lots open 2 ½ hours before show time but if you have a Premier parking pass you are guaranteed a parking spot near the entrance up until the time the show starts.
